Tritons Split Four Games Over the Weekend

Box Scores

Longview, Wash. – Edmonds CC split its four games over the weekend and now have a record of 3-5. On Saturday the Tritons lost to Lower Columbia 8-3, before topping Lane 8-7. On Sunday EdCC topped Lane 3-0, and then lost to Lower Columbia 6-4.

The Tritons managed eight hits in their Saturday game against Lower Columbia with Ryan Budnick going 2-for-4 with a RBI. Kevin Sheets was hung with the loss, though he pitched well, allowing two runs in six innings of work.

It looked like EdCC was on its way to a loss in Saturday’s nightcap versus Lane, but a five-run rally in the top of the ninth lifted the team to the 8-7 triumph. Chris Osborne drove in three runs with Keanu Puha, Kyle Baumgartner and Jeff Beckman each scoring twice.

Connor McKeever twirled a gem against Lane on Sunday. The sophomore threw seven shutout frames, yielding just two hits and fanning 13 batters. The Triton scored a run in the second and pushed two more across in the seventh, more than enough for McKeever and relievers Freeman and Andrew Kemmerer. Budnick was the offensive standout, collecting three hits, scoring twice and driving in a run. Brendan Foor had the team’s other RBI.

Edmonds lost a tough 6-4 decision to Lower Columbia in game two despite three more RBI from Osborne. Baumgartner and Ryan Archibald both had two hits in the loss.

The Tritons make their home debut this coming weekend when they host Big Bend and Pierce.
