It is another year and another chance to make a difference, do something new, reflect on what was learned, change directions or actions, and BLOG!!!
RESOLUTION! RE-solution! Re-SOUL-tion!
If you have time, please write (BLOG) about what you would like to do different in the coming school year. It can be simple or complex, one or more sentences… a stepping stone or a mile.
For instance, I would like to attend more Equity and Diversity Events, I would like to support Student Programs mores, I would like to meet two new friends in my classes, I would like to attend more lectures, I would like to BLOG more or reflect on things that inspire me, I would like to volunteer more, I would like to visit Lulu and Joyce to see how I can “make a difference,” I want to be on time to class, I would like to take a walk every day, etc. (Hint! Hint! Wink! Wink!) OR they don’t have to do with anything I am involved in. (laugh!)
Get to BLoGGiNg!!!
Also, GUEST BloGgErS are needed and wanted!
Please contact me at lulu.carpenter@edcc.edu for more information.
p.s. Schedule BloGGing on your calendar under weekly “things to do.”

COLLEGE SEEKS HELP TO NAME ITS NEW PODCAST SITE
Tell Edmonds Community College what to call its link to all college podcasts.
The college is creating one link students can use to connect to podcasts about the college whether the audio comes from classes, guest lectures or clubs (like www.gameaddicthotline.com, the game development club’s popular show packed with video game news and interviews).
Visit http://contactus.edcc.edu/podcast_survey.php to help name the URL. Select one of seven names to follow the backslash or send an original idea.

UNdoing what was DONE!!! This was a two day workshop that lasted from December 5-6th. People took time off of their job, studying, and vacation to learn about what race has done to people (and continues to do) and how it controls lives and takes power away from individuals, economically, physically, emotionally, and spritually. We must move away from individual injury and realize that there are systemic and institutional structures that condone and support racisms continued existence in our homes, families, schools, governments, etc. The power to even name themselves and to fit into labels that are imposed. This workshop, UNDOING RACISM, focused on understanding first and then you move towards action. “You have to understand what was done, in order to undo it,” stated one of the presenters. We have all been tricked and we have all been fooled into believing in this construct, but at the same time, it has caused and still causes real hurt and real pain. Although I can tell you all about it, my hope is that the people involved will take the time to reflect on their experience and BLOG!

Announcing our first annual Alternative Winter Break:
Join members of the Students of Service Club to assist Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County with the construction of new homes for people in need. Volunteers need to commit to three days of work, Dec. 10, 14, & 17. Transportation to and from campus and lunches will be provided but volunteers must register in advance with Sue Hart, President of Students of Service Club.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses.
Contact Sue Hart at sue.hart@edcc.edu or 425-640-1190 by noon on Thursday, December 8th to reserve your space.
