At Edmonds Community College, you can tap into your potential to update skills in your current field, change careers, enter the job market, or transfer for further studies. Complete a certificate in less than two quarters or earn a transfer or technical degree in two years.
Our training prepares students for entry-level careers or further studies in aerospace and advanced manufacturing and for engineering technician jobs as well as transfer to a four-year college. You can earn a technical degree and transfer to Central Washington University’s Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Management.

Train for engineering technician jobs specializing in aerospace manufacturing or materials science or prepare to pursue a bachelor’s degree in programs developed in response to demand from local employers. Classes introduce students to materials science, composite materials, and engineering design. Gain hands-on experience with the equipment used in industry in Monroe Hall, our materials science lab.

Edmonds Community College is providing more opportunities for STEM students and we’re committed to student success. The college:
- partners with NASA, University of Washington, Central Washington University, and the Community College Undergraduate Research Initiative on its research projects;
- gives students opportunities to apply what they’ve learned — engineering students have built and raced submarines and race cars and digital forensics students have worked on actual cases and interned at the state attorney general’s high-tech crime unit;
- creates a cohort of science students who are optimally prepared to succeed at the university level; and
- provides support when students need it to persist in their science studies.

Every program at Edmonds Community College is designed to give you the skills that employers value across industries: critical thinking, communication, teamwork, supervision, management, and technology.
You can customize a certificate or degree based on your job experience and goals and earn credit for what you already know. Build a foundation to qualify for entry-level management positions or take a specialized program to upgrade to a higher-level position
The college’s project management certificate can be completed in less than a year. Classes are offered day, evening, and online. Our college is a Registered Education Provider with the Project Management Institute, the leading membership association for the profession. In manufacturing, project managers work as Supply Chain Managers and Manufacturing Production Technicians.
A Center for Advanced Manufacturing Resources
Materials Technology Education National Center (MatEd)
MatEd is an NSF-funded center housed at Edmonds Community College. It provides curriculum for materials technology nationwide and an advanced technology lab.

Short-term, Industry-specific, Entry-level Training
Washington Aerospace Training and Research Center
With more than half of the labor force in aerospace reaching retirement age in the next five years, it is critical to train the next generation of skilled professionals. The WATR Center is dedicated to building our aerospace and manufacturing workforce. It has been noted for its innovative partnership with The Boeing Company and for its online courses.
It offers an Aerospace Manufacturing Core Certificate, an Aerospace Manufacturing Assembly Mechanic Certificate, and an Aerospace Electrical Assembly Mechanic Certificate and Aerospace Assembly Mechanic Certificate.
Located at Paine Field in Everett, the WATR Center is in the heart of the manufacturing industry in Snohomish County. Graduates get job interviews with local aerospace companies and suppliers. Employers make regular recruiting visits to the center. They include The Boeing Company, TECT Aerospace, Bridgeways Enterprises, AMT, Terry’s Machine & Mfg., Inc., Giddens Industries, Crane Aerospace & Electronics, Goodrich, and Primus International.
The WATR Center is increasing capacity by:
- renovating its building in Everett, Washington and providing 50 percent more capacity for the Aerospace Manufacturing lab;
- adding Electrical Assembly, Machine Operator, Tooling, Quality Assurance, and other certifications as they are identified by industry; and
- expanding access with more forms of student aid, including Guaranteed Education Tuition funds and low interest rate state-funded student loans.
