Advising for Student Success:
We’re Here to Help You

Maximize Your Time
at Edmonds Community College

Academic advisors at Edmonds Community College assist students with fulfilling their educational goals. Once you’ve selected a program of study, you should make an appointment to meet with your faculty advisor. Meet your Edmonds CC advisors.

An advisor can help you:

  • make the most out of your time at college and take only the classes you want and need;
  • navigate the campus and connect you to campus resources that will help you be a successful student;
  • explore career training programs or options for continuing your education at the university level;
  • find answers to questions about the transfer process;
  • be aware of your options including new classes, certificates, degrees, and transfer programs at the college;
  • determine how to finish your degree if you are returning to school after time away; and
  • plan for graduation.

If you are new to the college, you can see an advisor in post-test advising after taking the ACCUPLACER assessment test. You may be exempt from taking the ACCUPLACER if you have prior college experience – see the exemption requirements. In either case, in post-test advising, an advisor will help you review your program planning sheets, interpret your math and English placement scores, and select classes for your first quarter.

New students may sign up at any point for post-test advising either through the Testing Center or Enrollment Services — no appointment necessary. See our new student checklist for even more information about getting started as a student at Edmonds CC.

How to See an Advisor:

  • Make an appointment: By phone at 425.640.1458, or in person at Enrollment Services, on the 1st floor of Lynnwood Hall.

In order to meet with the most appropriate advisor, you will need to know what you are studying at Edmonds CC, if you are planning to transfer, and your future course of study.

  • Sign up to see an advisor during drop-in hours: Weekly drop-in hours are listed on the white board in Enrollment Services. Sign up at the Enrollment Services counter 30 minutes in advance.

During this 10-15 minute appointment you can ask quick questions. For detailed questions or long-range planning it is most appropriate to make a 30 minute appointment (see above).
You will need to meet with an advisor who specializes in your program of study.

See the appointment types chart for examples of what types of questions need an advising appointment and which can be asked during drop-in hours.

  • For quick questions: email advising@edcc.edu.
  • See a Faculty Advisor:  Make an appointment by phone at 425.640.1458, or in person at Enrollment Services, on the 1st floor of Lynnwood Hall. You may also contact the faculty member directly.

Use the Advising Resource Center in Lynnwood Hall.

  • Use our computers to register online or research career and educational programs.
  • Find many print and online resources to help you find course equivalents, applications, and more information about transferring to four-year universities.
