What is accreditation?
Edmonds Community College chooses to be a member of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and to go through the accreditation process every 10 years to better serve our students, our employees and our community.
We’ll examine:
- Are we doing what we say we are doing?
- How well are we doing it?
- How do we know?
- What evidence supports our claims?
- What can we be doing better?
Why are we doing this?
The self-study required for accreditation gives the entire college community an opportunity to take a global look at how we operate as an institution. In our self-evaluation, we seek to learn what is going well at the college and to better understand the challenges we face as an institution, as well as to make changes to more effectively help our students succeed.
Our self-study process promotes cross-campus communication and education for ongoing improvement and future planning. We’ll measure our operations against established standards and present evidence that we are doing what we purport to be doing.
