Alderwood Mall

Alderwood mall is only a 10 minute drive or 15 minute bus ride from Edmonds Community College. Alderwood Mall is Snohomish County's largest mall and one of the major malls in the Puget Sound region. It is a shopaholic’s dream, containing over 175 stores and four major department stores: Nordstrom, Macy’s, JC Penney and Sears. In addition to all the retail goodness, Alderwood Mall offers visitors several mouthwatering restaurants from which to choose. After dinner, amble on over to the 16 screen cinema and catch the latest Hollywood flick until your food coma wears off. This is an ideal place for college students to hang out after class and on the weekend. If you like shopping, you will not want to miss this mall. Bus lesson

After your morning welcome and campus orientation, ISS staff will escort you on the local bus system. This hands on lesson will help you learn the bus system so you are able to travel on your own during free time. Space Needle – Ride to the top of Seattle’s most known icon. The Space Needle is 605 feet (184 m) high and weighs 9,550 tons. The Space Needle features an observation deck at 520 feet (160 m), and a gift shop with the rotating SkyCity restaurant at 500 feet (152 m). From the top of the Needle, you can see downtown Seattle, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Lake Union, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Elliott Bay and surrounding islands. www.spaceneedle.com

EMP

This unique museum, formally known as Experience Music Project, offers visitors a chance to explore artistic creation and imagination. Inside you will have a chance to play musical instruments, learn about famous actors and musicians and explore modern science fiction culture. The outside of the building demonstrates the creativity and imagination you can explore inside – from above it looks like Jimi Hendrix’s famous smashed guitar. www.empmuseum.org

Woodland Park Zoo

Visit this world renown zoo featuring over 1000 different animals from reptiles to elephants. The zoo features modern exhibits and focuses on animal and habitat conservation. www.zoo.org Seattle Aquarium – Explore the ninth largest aquarium in the United States. Argosy Cruise

Spend 1.5 hours aboard a ship in the Puget Sound. This guided tour will point out famous sites on the Seattle skylines and surround islands and peninsulas.
