All study abroad programs include a unique cultural experience, a different learning environment, and lodging accommodations. You do not need to know a foreign language to participate. Financial aid may be available.

2013 Summer Short-Term Study Abroad Opportunities

Kunming, China

Kunming, China | Summer: August 22-Sept. 9 | Apply by April 15.

Start with a four day trip to Beijing, China and then fly to Kunming to study at Yunnan University for two weeks. The class includes local visits to Stone Forrest, a television station tour, and a flower market tour.

Alajuela, Costa Rica | Summer: August 17-Sept. 14 | Apply by April 17

Alajuela, Costa Rica

Learn Spanish while living with a Costa Rican family. Included: most meals, excursions to Manuel Antonio National Park, Poas volcano, La Paz, and Doka coffee plantation. One week volunteer option for students wishing to stay longer in Costa Rica. No language requirements to apply!

2013 Quarter-Long Study Abroad Opportunities

South Africa | Fall 2013: Sept. 24-Nov. 30 | Apply by June 18

South Africa

This 10 week program includes: housing in student lodging, some meals, a three day-two night excursion along the Garden Route, and a day excursion to Cape of Good Hope. An opportunity to volunteer is also available for this program. No language requirements to apply!

Tokyo, Japan | Fall 2013

Tokyo, Japan

In the fall of 2013, take a trip to see the home of Sumo wrestling, Mt. Fuji, the active volcano, and the fascinating city of Tokyo. Students will take 15 credits at Kogakuin University and live in shared apartments on campus with other Washington State students. Airfare, housing, some activities and excursions are included in the program fee.

  • Beginning Digital Photography (5 credits)

  • Creative Writing (5 credits)

 

 


2014 Quarter-Long Study Abroad Opportunities

Prague

NEW: Prague, Czech Republic | Spring 2014

Students will live in multi-bedded apartments in the city centre with a travel pass they can use on buses, trams and underground trains. Weekly subsidized activities are also included such as music concerts, sporting events, and a brewery tour.

Day trips are planned to UNESCO World heritage site and to Konopiste for the Castle of Franz Ferdinand.

London, England | Fall 2014

London, England

For 10 weeks, students can study at the University of London and earn 15 credits. Students will stay with a family where most meals are provided and have a travel pass for buses and the tube (subway).

Excursions to Scotland and Prague are optional as well as weekly subsidized activities such as plays, football (soccer) matches, and curry nights.
